Grand Velas Los Cabos – Luxury Travel Review

Travel Review and Photos of Grand Velas Los Cabos

To begin, I should explain how an ordinary, middle-class college student such as myself wound up on such a luxurious retreat. The company that my mother works for rewarded their top performing employees with a vacation here. Sweet deal, right? The whole trip was paid for by the company, so shout out to my mom for all her hard work. This resort may not be your go-to for a casual trip due to the price, but it would make a top notch honeymoon destination. The resort is also family friendly and could be a perfect place to bring the kids along to. Although it requires paying top dollar, you won’t for a second be questioning whether it was worth it. I’ll explain why:

The type of service and treatment we received at Grand Velas Los Cabos is unmatched. Upon arrival, as soon as we stepped out of the van we were greeted by a man holding a platter of fresh wet towels. During check-in, instead of standing at the reception desk, we were invited to sit on the couches and chairs in the lobby and were given refreshments while the receptionist came and sat with us. We were then escorted to our suite by our own personal concierge that we could use as our point of contact for any requests that we had for the duration of our trip. Our concierge demonstrated all the different amenities inside the suite and offered to give us a tour of the rest of the resort which we politely declined because we were eager to get down to the pool after the long journey.

There are three different pools, each with a swim-up bar and a hot tub connected. I spent most of my time at the infinity pool that is located closest to the beach because it is adults-only which made it so relaxing. Waiters walk around the pool area and will bring you any drinks or food that you’d like. So of course, I was eating tacos poolside almost every day feeling very spoiled. The ocean is too dangerous to actually swim in, but the number of pools make up for this and guests are welcome to walk the beach.

Regretfully, I was so busy showing off the suite on my Snapchat and Instagram stories that I forgot to take good quality pictures of the inside. The suite itself was just as immaculate as the rest of the resort though, and each one has its own balcony overlooking the pools and the beach. The most stunning purple flowers line the edge of each balcony, which blocks the view of the balcony to anyone below and provides the right amount of privacy to enjoy the view without being on display.

Usually, at an all-inclusive resort it can be expected that the food will be just ‘ehh’ and you won’t be blown away by it. Grand Velas Los Cabos is certainly an exception to this with the 5 different upscale restaurants that they offer and their award winning chefs. However, even the buffet restaurant and poolside food did not disappoint. My favorite restaurant was Frida, which serves authentic Mexican cuisine because the amazing staff took the time to explain the history behind the various dishes. The energy that was put into the presentation of the food showed that the chefs truly view it as an art.

This resort is also a good option for business functions or weddings. During my stay I saw a few wedding reception set ups that looked like they were straight out of a catalog and we attended two different cocktail events hosted by my mom’s company. From the minute we arrived to the moment we left, we did not have to worry about a single thing because the staff took such good care of us. The amount of attention they pay to detail is insane and is what makes this resort a top-of-the-line experience. Leaving to go back to go back to reality was deeply saddening and if given the opportunity, I would return in a heartbeat.
