Hi there, I’m Carmen, an engineer by profession with a passion for traveling! I had always known I loved exploring, but after taking my first solo trip to Portugal, a blazing desire to see more had been sparked. Throughout my years in college I had gotten creative and found ways to travel on a tight budget. Now that I work a full-time 9-5, I try my best to maximize my PTO to keep traveling as much as possible. I have visited 17 different countries so far, which has taught me invaluable lessons about this beautiful world, different cultures, and also myself. I created this blog in 2018 as a way to share my experiences and inspire others. Whether you are itching to travel for the first time or planning your next getaway, my posts have a little bit for everybody.

A Little More About Myself:
At the age of 20, I embarked on my first solo trip to Lisbon, Portugal somewhat spontaneously. I had just finished my summer internship and gone through a rough break-up (yup I know, so cliche). My hair was spared and no bangs were cut, instead I was looking to get my “Eat Pray Love” on. Except…the struggling college student version with only a week before the next semester started and less than $1,000.
While it was not my first time traveling abroad, it was my first vacation planned and paid for entirely by myself. One of the biggest takeaways I got from that trip was that it was totally possible to travel for way less money than most people assume. I have since taken many more trips including another solo trip to Peru. Here is the list of countries I have visited so far:
- Canada
- Mexico
- Italy
- France
- Spain
- Monaco
- Dominican Republic
- Portugal
- Netherlands
- Czech Republic
- Denmark
- Croatia
- Montenegro
- Peru
- Morocco
- Belize
- Colombia
- Austria
- Hungary
